On Saturday night at the 2009 Norseman Festival, granddaughter Julie and daughter Anne unveiled the monument erected in Norseman Heritage Park in memory of Robert H. Noorduyn.

The memorial monument to Robert H. Noorduyn stands in Norseman Park looking out over the seaplane area of Howey Bay. It includes a photo of Bob, a short history, and a close up of the instrument panel of a Noorduyn Norseman.

The Mockford Brothers, Greg and Dennis, flank tour co-participant Bonnie Macklin as they receive their framed copy of one of three over-size 2010 Norseman Posters. The posters were signed by a local representative at each stop along the way on their celebratory Circumnavigation of Canada trip. The flight was undertaken to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Powered Flight in Canada. It covered over 10,000 miies between the time it left Red Lake on May 27 and the time they returned for the Festival on July 21. Dennis, the owner of CF-LZO, flew the entire flight, while brother Greg and friend Bonnie took turns providing support in the right seat.  Read more about the flight and see fly-by videos from the 2009 Festival at www.norseman100.ca

Competition was lively and fun filled during Red Lake’s first Dragon Boat Race at the 2009 Norseman Festival.

A traditionally helmeted Norseman kept time for this hard working Dragon Boat team.
